Selecting the appropriate tools and materials is vital in preparing your walls for painting. In Burlington, MA, we at JK Painting Service Corp recommend starting with high-quality brushes and rollers. These tools are essential for achieving a smooth, even coat of paint. We also suggest having a variety of brush sizes to handle different areas of your walls, from broad surfaces to tight corners.
In addition to brushes and rollers, the right cleaning supplies and repair materials are key. Gentle cleaning agents are necessary to remove surface grime without damaging the walls. For repairs, spackling compound or plaster can fill in holes or cracks. As a renowned painting contractor in Middlesex County, we understand the importance of using quality materials that last and perform well.
Lastly, remember safety equipment. Items like gloves, masks, and eye protection are essential, especially when sanding or using chemical cleaners. Safety is a priority at JK Painting Service Corp, and we ensure our team is well-equipped for every job. The process of wall preparation involves several crucial steps, each important in its own right. The first step is thorough cleaning. At JK Painting Service Corp in Burlington, MA, we recommend using a soft sponge or cloth with mild detergent to wipe down your walls. This removes any accumulated dirt, grease, or cobwebs, creating a clean canvas for painting.
Once the walls are clean, the next step is to repair imperfections. In many homes and businesses in Middlesex County, walls often have small cracks, nail holes, or other minor damages. Filling these with a quality spackle or plaster is essential for a smooth, professional finish. Once dry, Sanding down these repairs ensures they’re flush with the wall surface. This step is crucial for avoiding visible blemishes after painting.
The final preparation step is priming. Applying a primer is especially important when covering dark colors or working on new drywall. It ensures better paint adhesion and a more uniform color. In Burlington, MA, we at JK Painting Service Corp can guide you in choosing the right primer for your specific wall type and paint.
It is believed that Burlington takes its name from the English town of Bridlington, Yorkshire, but this has never been confirmed. It was first settled in 1641, and was officially incorporated on February 28, 1799; several of the early homesteads are still standing, such as the Francis Wyman House, dating from 1666. The town is sited on the watersheds of the Ipswich, Mystic, and Shawsheen rivers. In colonial times up through the late 19th century, there was an industry in the mills along Vine Brook, which runs from Lexington to Bedford and then empties into the Shawsheen River.
Burlington is now a suburban industrial town at the junction of the Boston-Merrimack corridor, but for most of its history, it was almost entirely agricultural, selling hops and rye to Boston and supplementing that income with small shoe-making shops. Early railroad expansion passed the town by (although the town was serviced by the Middlesex Turnpike), limiting its early development, and Burlington continued to cure hams for the Boston market and produce milk, fruit, and vegetables.
This picture changed drastically, however, as soon as Route 128 was built. The highway kicked off an enormous expansion, and between 1955 and 1965 Burlington was the fastest growing town in the state. In one five-year period, its population tripled as residential and commercial retail development exploded creating the town’s present character. It is currently a residential and professional hub.
